Richardson City Council Meeting February 19th, 2024
All councilmembers are present as well as City Manager Don Magner and City Secretary Aimee Nemer.
Most of this meeting is a presentation of the Community Revitalization Awards. These are awards given to residential and commercial property owners who have invested in projects to improve their property. Based on the way Mayor Dubey opened the meeting, it seems that the official meeting doesn’t start until after the awards presentation. Yet, the presentation takes up 35 minutes of the 45-minute recording. While he called the meeting “together” at the beginning, he now calls the meeting “to order”. And, hearing public comments after the 35-minute presentation is the result.
Apparently, now the meeting begins. City Manager Don Magner acknowledges one written comment in support of a ceasefire resolution on the War in Gaza. Three public speakers are also present. The first speaker thanks Councilwoman Justice and Councilman Dorian for meeting with the community to hear their perspective. He also thanks them for sharing information about the petition process and mental health resources within the city. The second speaker also thanks Council for listening and engaging on the topic. The third speaker asks Council to support a ceasefire resolution on the War in Gaza.
Mayor Dubey then announces that they will convene into executive session to consult the city attorney regarding public facility corporations, and to conduct economic development negotiations in the area of W. Spring Valley & Coit. The footage ends after Mayor Dubey says, “That’s it.”
