Richardson City Plan Commission Meeting October 5th, 2023

Four of the seven regular commissioners are present, Chairman Marsh, Vice-Chair Southard, Commissioner Roberts, and Commissioner Walraven. One alternate, Gary Beach, is also present and will participate. Commissioner Bohnsack, Commissioner Costantino, and Commissioner Keller are absent.

Minutes of the previous meeting are approved unanimously.

There are two public hearings on the agenda. The first is on ZF 23-10, a special permit request for Shredder, an indoor ski & snowboard school, at 1002. N. Ctrl. Expy. Staff presents a brief overview of the request. The applicant steps forward to present their plans. The applicant notes that the ski surface is similar to a carpet. They will not be using water to produce fake snow. No public speakers or comments are received for this hearing. The request is unanimously approved.

The next public hearing is on ZF 23-11, a special permit request for Boss Nail Academy, a nail technician school, at 521 W. Campbell. Staff presents a background of the request. The applicant steps forward to present their plans. One public speaker, the neighboring property manager, expresses concerns about shared parking. The applicant answers that she will have students park in the back or further out in the parking lot. She will keep the storefront parking spaces for customers. The request is unanimously approved.
